New York and Western Massachusetts Fly & Spey Fishing Testimonials

We Practice and Promote Ethical Catch and Release Fly Fishing Only

Sam Woronoski; First trip to the Salmon River NY.

Far more than expected.
This weekend was beyond my imagination. Fly and spey casting large pools and runs with large spey flies and wooly buggers was great, especially when the steelhead pulled the fly. Taking the memories of these hard fight trout with me is awesome, but the instructional tips on how to be successful for these large trout will always be used.

Thanks for great fly fishing and your sharing of tips and presentations needed to be successful.

Claude Rivard; fisrst salmon river new york salmon fishing trip.We live in a society of results, competition and a bit of “showing off” and we tend to forget the value of “feeling” sometime.
I wish to add my personal note of gratitude for the great weekend we add together on the Salmon River. Its not often that you can learn so much in so little time and believe me, I learned a lot last weekend. First, I must say I was a bit surprised to be directed to a catch and release section of the river because, like a Lot of us (humans), there was no “bringing home of the beast” to the wife and kids and I seriously though That I would be “missing something” by catching a salmon (my first) and releasing it. Beside the numerous tips you gave me to help my (very) deficient casting technique, the most valuable lesson I Learned was that fly fishing is not about filling a cooler with salmon (you can do that more cheaply at the Supermarket....) but its a lot about feeling things (the night, the water, the line and rod, the pull, the Fight and finally the pride of touching your fish and releasing it). Well, I felt all that and I liked it a lot, more than a cooler filled with fish!
Thanks, see upi next season!!!

Padraig O Carroll; first fly fishbing trip to the salmon river

Thank you for a really great weekend.
We all enjoyed our trip. We all learned a lot about fishing, fly fishing and respecting nature. Your knowledge of your profession, your patience and your sense of humor created a wonderful ambiance. We had a safe trip home and talked about fishing and our next trip all the way.

We will let you know our plans for next year very soon.

Skip Kelly on the Deerfield River with Guide Walt Geryk.
"I asked Walt to put me on fish and did he ever,
even in some of the more difficult areas of the Deerfield River he kept his drift boat positioned in prime water for me, wait till my buddies at the fly shops here about this trip,
it was just absolutely outstanding!"
Skip Kelly
Vermont

On a last minute late day evening float trip on the Deerfield River. Skip's fly fishing experience showed as he's holding a fat healthy brown trout, which fell to a hare's ear nymph,
one of many nice trout landed during the trip.

Tom Champine with a trophy Deerfield River Brown Trout while on a drift boat trip with guide Walt Geryk.
"I wanted to let you know yesterday on the Deerfield was Fantastic,"
"your attention to presentation detail through out the day, along with your knowledge of this river, allowed me to enjoy and learn about the fly fishing opportunities offered in Western Massachusetts. The late morning wade trip offered up some great dry fly fishing which led into an outstanding afternoon drift boat trip. You made some excellent decisions on where and how to fish which obviously led to bagging that big brown. I will work out a date later this summer to get back there, hopefully it will be drier and we can use some of those monster attractors and terrestrials."
Tom Champine
Massachusetts

This Brown Trout measured at nine-teen and a half inches, estimated at 3 plus pounds. Tom's fly fishing abilities allowed him to get into some tight cover with many rewards for his effort.

Pat Gordon enjoying a few days of lessons and instructions showing off her success on the Salmon River NY.
"Thanks Walt, real fly fishing and feeling the strike in hand is incredible,
no more chuck and duck for me!
Your days of instruction and patience allowed for a fly fishing experience of a lifetime and years to come."
Pat Gordon
Florida

Patti is showing off a September estuary salmon. Drifting and. pulling buggers resulted with numerous viscous pulls and hook ups, some nearly tearing the rod from her hand.

Ed Shapiro enjoy a drift boat trip on the Deerfield River with Walt Geryk.
"Thank You!"
"If it wasn't for the drift boat opportunity offered by you, my fly fishing may have been on hold until next year. Thanks for your consideration and keeping us comfortable, all while putting us on healthy trout like the one in the photo."
Ed Shapiro
Massachusetts

Ed was only able to fly fish from the boat due to recent surgery.

Fred Kucharski catching steelhead using cane rods while fishing with guide Walt Geryk.
"Fishing with Walt is more then a fly fishing trip, It's a Learning Experience."

"I never imagined there's so many types of presentations
needed to take these trophy fish. Thanks Walt for teaching me some of your techniques that kept me into fish."

A great outing for the Johnson Family on the Deerfield River with Walt Geryk.
"Thanks Walt  for helping to make our dad's dream trip come true."
"In honor of his 70th birthday, Dean Johnson's children (Bryn, Kier, Todd and Teryn) arranged a day of fly fishing for him with Walt Geryk as their   guide on the Deerfield River in Western Mass. "The mid-August day began unseasonably cold (50 degrees) and windy, but Walt managed to keep our attention while instructing us on the how to of fly casting in a few hours. After a hot tea and coffee break we headed off to the river. With the five of us struggling with the gusty winds, Walt made a suggestion and invited the group back for an impromptu late afternoon session when he hoped the wind and weather would be more cooperative. By 5pm the wind was down; the temperature was up; and the fish were rising. Kier Johnson caught this 13"  Rainbow Trout just a few minutes after wet wading  into the river that evening.  Walt made what could have been a bust of a day into something special and memorable for us all. We'll never forget his generosity and patience with our group of five -- four of whom had never touched a fly rod until this morning!"

After speaking with a friend, Bill was introduced to Walt for an afternoon of fly fishing without added weights, just a mini-sink tip line and large buggers. Soon after, Bill was doing battle with a few trophy salmon, landing this mean green female.
