Deerfield River Spey Day 2009:
Beautiful weather, generous product and service donations along with instructions and in depth seminars by Walt Geryk and Keith Collins proved to be the key for a successful 2 handed spey event on the Deerfield River in Massachusetts. The highly enthusiastic group of participants enjoyed the day of seminars and on the water demonstrations of 2 handed casting techniques, spey, and single hand spey casting.
After the morning sessions, we broke for charcoal grilled Hot Dogs, Hamburgs and soft drinks while raffled items were drawn. Walt spoke a bit about Casting for Recovery and that all profitable proceeds would be donated to their cause.
The Auctions went well, the CND Spey Rod with line, the Orvis Helios Switch Rod, the TFO Fly Reel, the Ballistic and Jim Teeny lines and the Grand Lake Stream Vacation for 2 all left with their happy winners. After finalizing the details, most went back on the water for more casting demonstrations and instructions.
All who participated in the on the water, hands on instructions, left the day with a wealth of knowledge, learning more ways to expand and further enjoy their fly fishing.
Thanks to CND USA and Snake River Outfitters for supplying an ample selection of 2 handed trout, salmon and salt water rods, reels and lines for all to use.
