As the host, for the 2nd Spey and Fly Event for the Deerfield River in Western Massachusetts, Walt is also a well respected fly and spey fishing guide and instructor in Massachusetts, New York and the Northeast for Salmon, Trout, Steelhead and more.
Being extremely passionate about this sport, Walt also added the tasks of fund raising and donating to outdoor non-profit organizations, another tribute to his commitment to the outdoors and humanity.On his days off, Walt can be seen casting a long line on the Salmon River Region of NY and the Deerfield & Westfield Rivers of Western Mass. |
Herman & Adelsio Chavez will demonstrate the Scandinavian style of casting, some times called (the Underhand Cast) and the use of full sinking and long belly spey lines. These are great for salt water fishing.
These two borthers, who can't get enough of 2 handed spey fishing, have been chasing steelhead
as far as British Columbia
which include fishing the Skeena River System, and many of the Great Lakes Tributaries as well as the East Coast for Stripers, Blues and more.

Patrick Garner: Noted author and bamboo rod expert, will talk briefly about cane rods--their weight, speed, tapers and the incorrect belief that bamboo rods are easily broken. He'll discuss the current worldwide renaissance in cane rod making, as well as various pointers for those who may be interested in acquiring--and fishing with--fine bamboo rods. |
